Port Welshpool is a small town located in the South Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. The town is situated on the eastern end of the Yanakie Isthmus, which connects Wilsons Promontory to the mainland.

1. The town was named after the Welsh town of Welshpool, which is located on the border between Wales and England.
2. In the 19th century, Port Welshpool was a busy port for shipping agricultural produce and timber from the surrounding areas.
3. The town is home to the Port Welshpool Long Jetty, which is the longest jetty in Victoria and one of the longest in Australia. The jetty extends 885 meters into the water and was originally built in 1917.
4. The Port Welshpool and Welshpool railway line was opened in 1892, and ran from Port Welshpool to Welshpool, a distance of 24 kilometers. The railway was used to transport goods and people between the two towns until it was closed in 1954.
5. The Port Welshpool Fishermen's Co-operative was established in 1944, and is still in operation today. The co-operative is responsible for purchasing fish and other seafood from local fishermen, and selling it to local and interstate markets.
6. The town has a rich natural environment, with several parks and reserves in the surrounding area. These include the Corner Inlet Marine and Coastal Park, which is home to a diverse range of marine life, including seals, dolphins and whales.
